How do I book accommodation?

All cottages, cabins and the house are booked through our online booking system. Use any "Book now" button on the site, or contact the estate office for exclusive-use and group enquiries.

Where is Craigengillan?

The estate lies just outside Dalmellington in East Ayrshire, about 15 miles from Ayr and roughly 90 minutes' drive from Glasgow. See our Directions page for routes.

Are dogs welcome?

Dogs are welcome in selected cottages and cabins by prior arrangement, and on leads across the estate around livestock. Please mention dogs when booking.

Do I need to stay on the estate to ride or fish?

No, day visitors can arrange riding and fishing through the estate office, although guests staying with us get first pick of times.

Can we hire the whole estate?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The house, cottages and cabins can be combined for weddings, celebrations and retreats with exclusive use of the grounds. See Private Hire, or contact the office to talk dates.

Is there phone signal and Wi-Fi?

Accepted Answer

The house and most cottages have Wi-Fi. Mobile signal fades gloriously as you climb the hill, we recommend letting it.

When is the best time to visit?

Accepted Answer

Honestly: all of them. May and June for wildflowers and long light, autumn for colour in the parkland, and winter for log fires and the darkest star-filled skies.
